SECTION 9414.08. GARAGE CONVERSIONS.

(a) An existing garage may be converted into an ADU. No additional building separation shall be required other than what is provided as part of construction of the garage. Any additions shall provide building separations, as required by the base zone. For the purposes of this section, an existing garage shall mean a garage for which proper permits have been issued and finalized at least two (2) years prior to submitting plans for an ADU conversion into Building Plan Check.

(b) If an existing garage or other parking is converted or displaced for an ADU, the conversion or displacement shall not eliminate any off-street parking that is required for the principal residence or, if eliminated, the off-street parking shall be replaced per Section 9708.
