2.04.020 Compensation of city council.

A. Each member of the city council shall receive a salary, the amount of which shall be based on the maximum amount allowable on the schedule set forth in Government Code Section 36516.

B. For purposes of determining the population size, the last preceding federal census, a subsequent census or an estimate validated by the department of finance shall be utilized. The method which indicates the largest population shall be used in setting the compensation for city council.

C. A change in compensation shall occur when one or more members of the council shall become eligible for a salary increase by virtue of his or her beginning a new term of office. (Prior code § 30.02)
