2.44.080 Duties.

          The Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission identifies the arts and cultural needs of the community and is responsible for analyzing methods of fulfilling these needs and interests and presenting alternative recommendations for actions. The Commission promotes activities to broaden the opportunities for citizen participation in the arts and cultural affairs. It acts as a sounding board for individuals and organizations that have an interest in the arts and cultural affairs of the City, implements professional evaluation and screening of potential arts and culture activities. The Commission also reviews and approves final arts plans.

          The Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission shall have the power and be required to:

          a.   Identify the arts and cultural needs and interests of the community and be responsible for analyzing methods of fulfilling these needs and interests and presenting alternative recommendations for action.

          b.   Promote the arts and cultural activities to broaden the opportunities for citizen participation in arts and culture.

          c.   Act as a sounding board for individuals and organizations who have an interest in arts and culture and implement professional evaluation and screening of potential arts and cultural activities.

          d.   Review and approve final arts plans pursuant to Chapter 19.38 (Urban Art Program) of this code.
